Yup, things are starting to really pick up in my world.
I'm lucky to know a host of extremely talented performers, event coordinators, musicians, builders... all of whom are very active and busy being awesome here in LA. I am able to hop on their trains if I stay proactive and outgoing myself, and I'm definitely working my angles. This weekend my sculptures will be featured at two fabulous events in downtown LA, at two separate incredible venues.
Friday, February 17th and Saturday, February 18th, my work will grace the stage and hallways at an event that is not to be missed. The dynamic, unique and fabulous circus/dance troupe Lucent Dossier Experience is teaming up with some of the most incredible street artists I have ever met/seen, Herakut, at the beautiful Palace Theater, showcasing stunning performances and costumes, and a wealth of creativity that will blow your mind. My sculptures that once graced the Basura Sagrada Temple at Burning Man in 2008 will be lit up against their stage, and some of my pieces from Tangible Growth in Metal Sculpture will be on view and for sale in the lobby of the venue. Tickets are available HERE.
On Sunday, February 19th, those pieces and more will travel to the beautiful and newly restored Balasco theater for the Los Angeles Edwardian Ball. You can buy tickets for that HERE.
These will be incredible opportunities for exposure for my work, and I'm beyond thrilled and eternally grateful to my community for sharing their glory with me.
On top of that, I am working on a new wall piece in the studio, teaching regular lessons, and finagling all sorts of random work from the wealth of opportunities in Los Angeles' entertainment industry.
Every day I'm hustlin'... but 2012 is definitely shaping up to be an awesome year.

People's Choice Awards Competition for Artists Wanted
I'm in a dash to enter as many juried exhibitions/contests/grants/fellowships as I can right now. Most of them are juried by a closed Jury, but this one is done by YOU! please go to the link and click VOTE, and share it with everyone you know... I may just win! thank you so much.

business as unusal
times are hard for paying gigs right now, and for my heart, but i'm doing by best to take 2012 by storm anyway. i've decided that along with working tirelessly on my marketing materials, i also must actively search AND apply to artist grants, contests and gallery shows on the daily. today i will apply to at least two. unfortunately, that costs money, so it will be more searching than it will be applying, but i'm going to apply to at least 2 today.
i've got a new student- his second lesson is today. i'm looking forward to it, as it helps remind me of what is awesome about what i do, and to get inspired.
i had an interview on monday with an LA art blogger- i'll be interested to see how that turns out, and what it might do for my work here. baby steps....

rollin' along...
Well, lots of things shifting in 2012. I'm ready. I've decided to get back into regular writing/photo posts, and since I'm keeping this blog more strictly about metalwork these days, I have a tumblr.com site that i'll be posting other artwork, poetry, and music. click that link if you want to check it out, subscribe, whathaveyou.
In other news, I have an interview with an LA art blogger on Monday that I'm excited about- he's coming to my studio. I have no idea what to expect, but he covered my show in October a little on his downtown artwalk post, and that was pretty cool, so we'll see where it goes from here... any press is good press, since I'm trying to actually and seriously trying to get things out into the world right now.
next up.... look books for marketing... weeeeee........

The Photos to rule all Photos
Today is a big day- I've had an amazing photographer, Kevin "Kevissimo" Rolly, take photos of my recent sculpture series, and they look awesome. This is what I've been needing to push myself forward after the huge push of actually getting them done. The plan from here is to apply to all sorts of art contests, galleries, grants with them, and use them to create marketing materials in order to get custom commissions on a larger scale... ideally I'll be talking with hotels, restaurants and home/business owners to create permanent pieces for their indoor and outdoor spaces. 2012, let's do this!
I'll be putting everything up on my official website in the next 24-48hrs, so check back soon... I'll also post here when it's done.
